Budapest
I've booked a few days in an airbnb. Very cheap.

Any advice, tips or recommendations greatly received as I've never been there before.

Oh, and the Missus is coming - but I may be able to escape for an hour.

Got the travel card, already been ripped off by a taxi driver but have met a quite sexy little minx who's going to sort me out with an apartment if I decide to stay.

At around £1.50 a pint, it's very tempting.

Get a 3 day travelcard or can do a week i think, unlimited use on the buses and metro and its super quick and easy to get around

Agree MPI, the metro system is great, right from the lovely old line 1 to the ultra modern line 4. Well worth taking a ride on both.

Agree 100% with that, loved Budapest and Hungary is a cracking country but the language is a complete fucker.

Re: Budapest
Among my favourite cities and nations in the world, the people are beautiful [women on a par with Croatia/Ukraine] and rich in history (you'll be surprised at how different their version of history is to what you've been told your whole BBC programmed lives) their spirit is still strong in one of the last bastions of true Europe left.

The October 23rd celebrations of the Uprising are always a highlight, let's just say they still call a spade a spade, and never would confuse them for "Russians".

Buda is the old city built around the natural terrain and Pest is the modern side with better transport systems and ordered roadways.

In my opinion advice for where to go would take away from the experience but take a stroll along the Danube on foot or boat both day and night and let the moment take you on your course around, be sure to visit the castle area, while too many tourists there you'll still have access to some of the most beautiful sights and vantage points.

PS - Don't mention the war, they really aren't as retarded and confused as the average Western neo-liberal brainwashed dolt.

Re: Budapest
If you need a taxi anywhere, try and get the hotel/bar to book it for you as there are so many rip-off merchants out there. You will be fleeced for even the shortest journey if you flag one off the street. The hotels and bars usually deal with the more reputable ones.

Re: Budapest
Just got back from Budapest. Very interesting city.

Most of the things to do are very cultural. Would recommend going to Heroes Square, Parliament Building & Shoes on the Danube.

Would also recommend the baths. In the baths they do a Beer Spa which is a lot better than the normal baths. Also get unlimited beer for 45 minutes, extra 25 Euro per person.

La Pampa steak restaurant is lovely along with lucky 7 burgers. Also Mr Funk Donuts is amazing. Sky bar is good but closes very early.

With regards to money I would use your card instead of changing up cash. The money side of things out there is very confusing.
